I'm Dr. Julaine Braham, a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician and Obesity Medicine Fellow deeply passionate about sharing the importance of health and wellness. I am of Jamaican descent and currently based in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Presently, I have the privilege of caring for patients with chronic conditions, including obesity and its many comorbidities to include diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, pulmonary disease, cancer, and more.

What is a Health Literacy Consultant?A Health Literacy Consultant is a Specialist who guides and promotes evidence-based healthcare in a patient centric manner to improve health outcomes under the specialities of internal medicine.

Who is a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician?An individual who has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and has demonstrated, to their peers and to the public, that they have the clinical judgment, skills and attitudes essential for the delivery of excellent patient care in Internal medicine. Internal Medicine physicians routinely see patients with chronic conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and pulmonary disease. Dr. Braham is a member of American Medical Association (AMA), as well as the Florida Medicinal Association (FMA). Board certified in Internal Medicine in 2022, Dr. Braham and her patients’ find greatest satisfaction in the field of weight loss medicine to treat the many obesity related conditions that benefit from weight loss, nutrition, and exercise. Thus, her passion for specializing in the field of obesity medicine was born.

What is an Obesity Medicine Specialist?A "Obesity Medicine Specialist" is a licensed healthcare provider who has received specialized training in obesity medicine, which is the medical subspecialty that focuses on the medical treatment of overweight and obesity and their related conditions. As a board eligible Obesity Medicine Specialist, Dr. Braham assesses every patient with a comprehensive approach using tools such as nutrition, physical activity, lifestyle changes, lifestyle management, and when indicated, the prescription of appetite suppressants and other appropriate medications. Dr. Braham is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) which is a national subspecialty society that is dedicated to the teaching and training of healthcare providers in the field of weight loss and their associated conditions.

May I use my insurance to pay for KIWI?Your insurance will not cover services offered at KIWI.

Does KIWI replace my Insurance, Primary Care Physician (PCP) or Specialists?KIWI does not replace your insurance, PCP or specialist(s). KIWI complements your current health care journey. Think of KIWI as your health buddy who will help you understand your medical conditions deeply in order for you to advocate for yourself with the goal to prevent chronic diseases. Members are encouraged to have some form of insurance in the case of unforeseen health emergencies, injury or illness.

How quickly can I connect with my provider?Once a member has established with KIWI, you will be able to schedule a 45 or 30 min consultation. Members will have access to a portal which will allow you to schedule an appointment, upload your medical questions, labs and imaging reports 24 hours prior to your appointment in order to make each consultation as efficient as possible. This will ensure that your pertinent medical concerns will be addressed during the visit.

How to be prepared for your visit?Review and sign the membership agreement. Next, schedule and upload your medical question including any imaging or labs you would like for the provider to review. The goal is to stay on task so that your questions will be answered and get the best value out of your consultation.

Is there 24/7 coverage?KIWI services are not tailored for urgent care consultations. There is no 24/7 coverage. The provider will address all medical concerns that were uploaded to the member portal 24 hours in advance during consultation.

Do KIWI providers diagnose, treat and manage diseases?This is a complementary service to your current health care. KIWI providers do not diagnose, treat or manage diseases on this platform.

Do KIWI providers prescribe medications including medical marijuana or controlled substances?No.

How do I Pay?Membership fees and costs are charged via FSA/HSA, checking or credit cards. Monthly recurring or one-time payments are accepted. Fees are determined by the membership of your choosing located in the KIWI membership agreement.

How do I cancel my membership?A formal request must be sent to drbraham@kiwi-med.com 30 days prior to the monthly renewal date.
